Described from the flippers, and going around the playfield clockwise.
At the start of each ball, the ball is served to the plunger lane, and engine revving noises are played to alert the player that the ball is starting. There is a Red/Yellow/Green "tree" just above the plunger lane. Plunging the ball at the right time is worth points.
The first of the four objectives in the game is to complete and collect the DRAGSTER. This can be done by any combination of completing the DRAGSTER standup targets and making DRAGSTER loop shots. When DRAGSTER is completed, and collected, the "Play Video" lamp insert by the flippers will light and will stay lit until the ball drains. When the ball drains, the player is awarded the DRAGSTER video game.
The second of the four objectives in the game is to complete and collect the MOTOCROSS. This can be done by any combination of completing the MOTOCROSS standup targets and making MOTOCROSS (left) ramp shots. When MOTOCROSS is completed, the "Play Video" lamp insert in the MOTOCROSS line of inserts will light and the MOTOCROSS ramp can be made to lock the ball. When the ball is locked, the player will play the MOTOCROSS video game.
The third of the four objects in the game is to complete and collect the RALLY by making loop shots around the right loop or hitting the RALLY standup targets. Unlike the other three objectives, RALLY does not have an associated video game, but it does have an Extra Ball, and starts Double Scoring.
The last of the four objectives in the game is to complete and collect the FORMULA 1. This can be done by any combination of completing the FORMULA 1 standup targets and making FORMULA 1 (right) ramp shots. When FORMULA 1 is completed, the "Play Video" lamp insert in the FORMULA 1 line of inserts will light and the FORMULA 1 ramp can be made to lock the ball. When the ball is locked, the player will play the FORMULA 1 video game.
In this video game, the player has control of a rider and motorcycle and must guide it through an obstacle course filled with rocks, logs, boulders, and a small river. Reach the end of the course to "win" the game, which starts a two-ball multiball, or lose the game and the locked ball is returned to play. Winning the game also completes one objective toward Super Special. To play, the player uses the flipper buttons. Left button steers the cycle to the left. Right button steers the cycle to the right. Both buttons jumps over obstacles. If this video game is set for "easy" then the player cannot lose, as the cycle will not crash, it will simply run straight through whatever is in the way. If the game is set for "hard", however, then the player must successfully avoid each and every rock, log, and boulder to win.
In this video game, the player has control of a dragster (left lane, blue), competing against a computer controlled dragster in the other lane (right lane, red). Pound on the flipper buttons to go faster. Winning this game returns the lost ball to the player to be plunged back in to play, essentially an Extra Ball. If the game is set on "easy" for this game, the player can win easily by simply pounding on the flipper buttons for a few seconds. If the game is set for "hard", however, the computer will likely win. Winning the race completes an objective toward Super Special.
In this video game, the player has control of a open wheel "Formula 1" -style race car and must guide it through a race against other similar cars, beating them to the Finish Line to win the race. Some of the computer controlled cars will go straight ahead, others are swerving from side to side. Win the game to start a two-ball multiball, or lose the game and the locked ball is returned to play. Winning the game also completes one objective toward Super Special. To play, the player uses the flipper buttons. Left button steers the car to the left. Right button steers the car to the right. Both buttons shifts between gears 1 and 2, making the car go slower or faster than the computer controlled cars. If this video game is set for "easy" then the player cannot lose, as the car will not crash, it will simply run straight through whatever is in the way. If the game is set for "hard", however, then the player must successfully avoid all of the other cars to win.
Winning either the MOTOCROSS or FORMULA 1 video games starts a two ball multiball. As with all other ball launches, the ball is served to the plunger lane for the Skill Shot. Once the second ball is in play, the locked ball is released from the ramp.
Complete all four objectives to collect the Super Special. This is operator adjustable and could award 2M points, 1 Extra Ball, 2 Extra Balls, or 1 Replay.
Tilting the game during normal gameplay results in a loss of the current ball with no End-of-Ball bonus.
By default, the game awards two score-based Extra Balls (3M and 6M points) and a score-based Credit (free game) at 9M points. These thresholds are operator adjustable. Up to three Extra Balls can be stacked, though there is no indication to the player other than the lamp insert by the flippers.
Big points are available from RALLY, as is an Extra Ball, so this is always good to go for. Having DRAGSTER completed is also good, as it ensures a second chance at a drained ball. Once these are taken care of, go for the MOTOCROSS and FORMULA 1 video games to get to multiball and to work toward Super Special.
The skill shot is relatively easy, and worth 100K points for each plunge. Don't waste them by not making this.
